This week: Erzurum dedicated to the EYOF

14 February 2017   -   The short track competition of the European Youth Olympic Festival will be held in the Erzurum Palandoken rink, which was opened in 2009 and hosted before the Winter Universiade, World Cup and ISU World Junior Championships Short Track. The Icerink has two ice surfaces of 30 by 60 meters. The Short Track competitions will take place from Wednesday 15 february untill Friday 17 february. For the Short Track competition 58 skaters from 18 countries have come to Erzurum. The medals will be presented to the winning skaters every evening in the city centre of Erzurum on medal Plaza according to the Olympic traditions.

 
 

This week: European Youth Olympic Festival Erzurum

13 February 2017   -   From 11-18 february 2017 the European Youth Olympic Festival takes place in Erzurum-Turkey. Athletes in the age of 14-18 years from 25 countries come to compete in 9 winter sports. Erzurum is a city in eastern Turkey. It is founded in the year 415 and was named in that period Theodosiopolis. It is the largest city in, and the capital of the Province of Erzurum. It is situated 1757 meters (5766 feet) above sea level. Erzurum has a population of around 367,250. Erzurum has some of the finest winter sports facilities in Turkey and hosted the 2011 Winter Universiade. The temperature this week outside will be around -3’ Celsius during the day and during the night it will go down this week from -12’ Celsius on Wednesday to -18’ Celsius on Friday.

 
 

This week: ISU World Cup Minsk

11 February 2017   -   From 10-12 February the 6th and last ISU World Cup Short Track of this season is held in the city of Minsk. Minsk is the capital of Belarus, has over 2 million inhabitants and is a very old city founded in the 11th century around 1067. The Ice rink is situated in the Minsk-Arena which hosts a multi purpose accomodation with 15.000 seats, an Icerink with 3000 seats and a Velodrome with 2000 seats. 174 skaters from 23 countries are attending this event. The individual distances to be skated are the 500m,1500m and two times the 1000m. Live video can be seen on the ISU website.

PB-Event: for Sport and Events

    PB-Event is a Dutch company that is specialized in Sound, Telecommunication and Timing equipment. They are also Producers for big and small sport events. Moreover, they have worked for many years in Short Track Speed Skating.
    PB-Event is doing jobs all over the world. They have worked for the Grand Prix Track & Field in Mexico, the Grand Prix Thales FBK Games in the Netherlands and for the Grand Prix Track & Field of Shanghai as well. In the Netherlands they supply the technical equipment for many (sport) events. Contracted by the Rabobank cycling team, they have gone for a many years to the Tour de France. Their Telecommunication equipment has been used at the Olympic Games of Salt Lake City and also at the Olympic Games of Torino.

A ‘Star Class’ Competition is an International Competition in Short Track Speed Skating in accordance with all Regulations of the International Skating Union, which has been designated as such during the annual planning meeting of European Members of the ISU.
