In memoriam Gialt Biesma

12 February 2023   -   After a long period of hope and fear we received the sad news that on Monday February 6th Gialt Biesma has passed away due to the brain stroke he had more then a year ago.
   
    Gialt was a high level ISU referee for Short Track speedskating for many years and being active in this function at many ISU World Cups, World Championships, Olympic Games and National competitions. Starting as a Skater he dedicated his life for many years to Shorttrack Speedskating.
   
    Besides being a referee in many competitions he also was doing Photo Finish and Timing for many other Short Track competitions in the team of Shorttrackonline. He also was for many years Co-organizer in the team of the Oberstdorf Shorttrack Summercamp.
   
    Gialt dedicated his live to sport; during the summer he was active for cycling competitions, athletics, Dragonboat races and many other sportive activities. He also was a Radio Amateur (call sign: FRAG/PE1OLM).
   
    Our thoughts go out to his mother, sister and family.
   
    We are very thankful for the great job he did for our sport of Short Track and will never forget him.
