After a spectaculair final in which Hungary and the Netherlands felt, but fought themselves a way back to the finish, a heavy fight between Germany and Italy, and a disqualification for Hungary, Germany succeeded in winning the final and the European title in the relay. Italy became 2nd and the Netherlands third.
