Highpoint of the week was the biathlon with inline skating and shooting

24 August 2013   -   From 3 – 10 August 2013 the 2nd Oberstdorf Shorttrack Summercamp was held in the wonderful region of Oberstdorf. More than 110 skaters from 32 clubs out of 10 countries came to this little south German Mountain village for a week of sportive activities, short track training on ice and a short track competition.

It was a special week, this second edition in Oberstdorf. The opening barbeque with more than 160 people started in the sun and ended in thunderstorm and rain. After this Saturday evening the week started in real with inline training on the biathlon track of the Nordic Training Centre and 37 hours of ice for short track training and the short track competition.

Eight full licensed shorttrack trainers were available for the daily 5 training sessions on ice. On Monday, besides the ice training, an uphill running competition was held with 99 runners. On Wednesday, besides the ice training, a biathlon competition was held with inline skating and shooting with 101 competitors. On Friday and Saturday a short track competition of high level was held with many new personal records. The week came to its end at the closing replica rolex submariner dinner on saturday evening with more than 185 people attending.

A complete staff of competition officials like referee’s, starters, competitors stewards, etc. were also in Oberstdorf on volunteer base to run all the events during the whole week.

This all was supported in a perfect way by the Sport Office of the City of Oberstdorf, the Eissport Club Oberstdorf coordinated by its President Harald Löffler and Short track Chairman Dieter Linka and of course Joachim Knöckel who did a lot of the work what we did not see.

We would like to thank all these people for the work they did and hope that all skaters enjoyed the week. We hope to see you all back again in the next year in Oberstdorf for the 3rd edition of the Oberstdorf Shorttrack Summercamp.
