New World Records set at start of season

- At the Olympic Oval Oktoberfest competition in Calgary, on the 13th and 14th of Oktober, Canadian skaters has broken two World Records. On the first day Francois Hamelin skated in the 500 meterfinal a time of 41.066 and beated with this the old record of 41.184 of Jean-Francois Monette. On the second day of the competition Michael Gilday (Yellowstone NT) skated a new World Record on the 1000 meter in a time of 1.23.815. The second place in that race was for Guillaume Bastille who also beated the World Record in a time of 1.24.362. (The old record was 1.24.674 from Jiajun Li of China).
