WTC-Budapest: sunny weather and ready

15 March 2007   -   On the 17th and 18th of March, the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships will take place in the Capital of Hungary, Budapest. Although the weather is sunny with almost no wind and a temperature of 14 degrees Celcius the Jégcsarnok Icerink, a part of the sport centre of the big Nép-stadium (people's stadium) is ready to receive the skaters of the national teams of 11 countries who have qualified for this event. During this Worldchampionships for the first time the new competition format will be used, in which the coaches can decide just a few moments before the start of a race, which skater will skate in that race. The goal of this system is to enter a tactical element to the competition in order to give the coaches more influence by taking tactical and strategical decisions.
