StarClass brings speedskating back to Davos
The winners of the Overall classification of the StarClass Davos
12 November 2017
- The second competition of the StarClass, held from 10-12 November in Davos, brought speedskating back to Davos. On the natural ice of the 400 meter track many World championships were organised in the past century. In 1977 it was the last edition planned to be held. But the warm wheater made the natural ice of Davos not being able to skate on. The Championships was in a week time moved to Heerenveen the Netherland and the history of longtrack championships on natural ice came to its end.
But the "Internationaler Schlittschuh Club Davos", who was one of the founders of the International Skating Union, revived and started this season with organising the 2nd edition of the StarClass Series. It was a perfect organisation in the wonderfull accomodation of the Vaillant Arena and on an altitude of 1500 meter! This garanteed very fast skating allthough many of the skaters in fact needed more time to adapt to this altitude. On the picture all the winners of the Overall Classification. The live stream video had again a record of viewers. The video of all finals will be uploaded to this website in a short period and can be seen on the page WEB-TV and is also connected to the competition results and the skaters personal page.
