Public winner at Worldcup Dresden
15 February 2009
- With spectacular races in the relay finals the ISU Samsung world cup in Dresden was completed. The team of the USA won the Ladies final over 3000 meter and the team of China was the winner of the Menís final over 5000 meter. Biggest winner although was the public; almost every shorttrack skater of Germany was in Dresden and also a few thousand people from Dresden itself came to te competition. This made a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium, specially when the German team became third in the Menís relay. The singing and clapping of the audience was like a warm bath on a cold and rainy day. The 500 meter was skated twice and Tatiana Borodulina (AUS) won both distances. The 500 meter was won on the first day by Ho-Suk Lee (KOR) and the second day by Anthony Labello (USA). Min-Jung Kim (KOR) and J.R. Celski (USA) were the winners of the 1500 meter. Kimberly Derrick (USA) and Ho-Suk Lee (KOR) made it to the first place on the 1000 meter.
